Empirically Supported with Nearly 30 Years of Research
Research has shown that the ORS/SRS and PCOMS improve outcomes with youth and adults, in individual, couple, and group therapy, with both mental health & substance abuse problems.
the most user-friendly, scientifically supported measures
What Is PCOMS?
PCOMS is a measurement-based care (MBC) system that is truly evidence based (see below). PCOMS employs two four-item scales, the Outcome Rating Scale (ORS) to track client benefit and the Session Rating Scale (SRS) to monitor the therapeutic alliance.
The Reliability and Validity of the ORS and SRS
Many platforms are using measures of dubious or non-existent reliability and validity. In both psychometric studies and RCTs, the ORS and SRS have unequivocally demonstrated reliability and validity. And amazingly, accomplishes it with four items!
Evidence Based
Many MBC platforms report that they are evidence based, but only two systems are. PCOMS is one of them. Randomized clinical trials in the US with individuals, couples, substance misuse, group, and integrated care have demonstrated up to 3 times more reliable change and reduced dropouts. Studies in Europe and Asia with individuals, couples, and children have reported up to 6 times more reliable change and reduced dropouts.
Much More Than Just Assessment
The ORS and SRS are far more than simply a measure of benefit and relationship. There are three functions: 1. A collaborative, communicative process designed to privilege clients, involve them in decision-making as true partners, and tailor services to their resources and needs; 2. A normative, psychometrically sound measure of outcome and alliance as well as algorithms for expected treatment response; and 3. A method to address cultural awareness and responsiveness.

Individually (Personal well-being)
Interpersonally (Family, close relationships)
Socially (Work, school, friendships)
Overall (General sense of well-being)
